The majority of the day we spent with the IT staff at their office in Lavington. This was our first chance to regroup and debrief for the first time since the retreat. It was a time for us to reflect and share our thoughts on how the retreat impacted us. We learned a little bit more about the difficulties that refugees face and how that impacts their culture. IT is truly on the front lines of helping refugees build their faith and it is informative and encouraging.
After our meeting we joined the IT staff for lunch at a popular Ethiopian restaurant. We won't lie, it was pretty tasty! It was a good time laughing and deepening our friendships.
A majority of the afternoon was spent with one the refugee elders who has impacted many lives. He shared his wisdom and encouraged us in how my be able to better serve refugees in our own community.
